Happy New Year everyone! We’re officially in 2016- I can’t believe it. Yesterday we decided to start Jan 1 off right by going for a hike. We weren’t the only ones with this idea, for obvious reasons, so the hiking trail was pretty packed. It was a new trail that neither of us had been on so I had no idea how easy or hard it was going to be, but I figured we would do an hour or two and then head home. Well as it turns out, the first half was pretty darn intense at times- steep incline hill after hill. After we’d finish climbing one i’d think “I’m so glad I don’t have to climb that again” and then I’d see there was another one up ahead. So we kept going, waiting to make a loop to head back to our car… and then we got a little lost, lol. We tried going off course into the neighborhoods instead of retracing our path on the trail, but that made things worse. We eventually found the trail again but we found it at the beginning of the the steep hills! So we literally had to do the most intense part of the hike all over again. I seriously wanted to cry when I realized that was the path we had to take to get back, because by that time, we had been walking for almost 7 miles. Well we managed to make it back, and needless to say, I’m very sore today. It turned out to be 4 hours and 8 miles, but at least I got a great workout on day #1!
Enough about that, let’s talk about the cute little danish town of Solvang. Mike and I drove through there on our way up north to visit family for Christmas. We stayed one night at this adorable hotel. They have little cottages you can rent, but were sold out when we came so we might have to make another visit 🙂
The room we stayed in was still so quaint. It had such a cute fireplace which was much needed because it was pretty cold.
We had a wonderful time walking around and exploring the cute little shops and bakeries. It was one of my favorite memories from the holiday season! Thanks for reading!
